When we learned Disney+Hotstar were producing a host of shows telling stories in 12-15 minute episodes, we were determined we could pull off a low-budget mystery series.
At First Action, I led the pitch to craft a 20 episode series about a renegade cop serving a punishment posting in the rural Hindi hinterland and solving eerie seemingly super-natural cases with a gifted local boy.
After a month of pitching, we narrowed down on four stories, primed to draw Tier II Hindi television audiences to the platform.
I led the writing room for two months, personally narrated our stories to executives, wrote five episodes, and led plotting on the others, balancing demands of the platform, S&P, and protecting as much of our creative decisions as possible.
Production began in March 2021 with a budget of 1.5 CR.
Ankahi Ansuni premiered in July 2021 and was one of Quix's most successful shows as per Disney-Hotstar metrics.
